The Ride:
Spooner Summit-Bench Mountain Bike Trail: The Bench is literally a wooden bench, made and donated by the South Tahoe Kiwanis Club in 1986. It is perched on the crest of a ridge line, just below Genoa Peak 9,150’, and overlooking the entire Lake Tahoe. It is one of the most awe inspiring views because of its panorama: to the south you see Freel Peak 10,881’, Jobs Peak 10,633’, Jobs Sister 10,823’ and Heavenly Mountain Resort. Looking westward across the Lake, you look right into Fallen Leaf Lake at the base of Mt. Tallac at 9,735’, and you see Homewood Ski Resort. Panning north you will see Granite Chief peak at Squaw Valley and North Tahoe.
Ride Option: Bench–Kingsbury You can choose to continue your ride south along TRT and exit at Kingsbury Grade in South Tahoe.
